What is a birthday without a layered cake? And who better to conjure a cake than the grandparent to whom the task is indeed a ’’Piece of Cake’’. This delicacy is the heart of the celebration, the crown jewel of the spread. Its contents a mystery, hiding between its many layers.This traditional birthday delicacy was the inspiration for this series of lighting fixtures. Their structure consists modules that nest within each other. The construction allows the shade’s height to be adjusted as well as for the shape to be flipped upside down. True to its muse; the warm glow seeping through the birch plywood layers of the fixture invites us to gather around the table and to stay long after we’ve finished the last piece of cake.
