Kiki

Kiki is a modular picnic furniture design by Riku Toivonen and Shogo Tamura. Made from birch veneer modules, the stools, chairs, and tables are easy to assemble and carry, even on a bicycle's back rack. The design evolved from creative ideas, such as using the modules to build tree stairs, highlighting its versatility and playful nature.

Kiki was designed through a collaboration between Riku Toivonen and Shogo Tamura, presenting a fresh, innovative approach to modular picnic furniture. The concept combines practicality and flexibility, with stools, chairs, and tables that are not only easy to carry but also simple to assemble. The furniture is built from identical birch veneer modules, which are connected by tightening straps, allowing for quick and secure assembly. When disassembled, the pieces are lightweight and portable, making them ideal for transportation, such as on the back rack of a bicycle.This project was a lot of fun, with the design evolving from a series of creative and sometimes unconventional ideas. One particularly imaginative concept was using the Kiki modules to build stairs up a tree, highlighting the versatility and playful nature of the design.
